The evolution of Melina Joy Opticians
On 31st March 1992 Melina Joy Opticians opened its doors from scratch (there wasn’t an Opticians on the site previously). Staff comprised an Optometrist, a Dispensing Optician and a receptionist – status was sole trader.
Fast forward 27 years:
Melina Joy Opticians has become Incorporated and now has 4 capable directors. It boasts an amazing team of:
3 Optometrists, 4 Dispensing Opticians, 2 receptionists, 1 bookkeeper, 1 administrator, 1 IT consultant and 2 tolerant cleaning ladies.
The building at 59 High Street, Heathfield has 3 well equipped, hi-tec consulting rooms – one on the ground floor for disabled access. A separate screening room and a further room for Colorimetry. There are 3 excellent dispensing ports, a superb range of stylish frames and sunnies. We have an interactive staff room and an administration hub.
There have been 4 shop refits, driven by the fact that Melina Joy Opticians will not stand still, it will continue to grow and develop new strategies to continue its successful role in primary eyecare and its ongoing promise to always be the best clinical and styling opticians.
What’s the future?
Melina Joy Opticians plans to continue its promise of Eyecare and Eyewear for the community of Heathfield.
Melina Joy Opticians are already planning another refit – driven by Catriona, our Dispensing and Marketing director.
Together with her fellow director David, they plan to take Melina Joy Opticians forward, to further develop and change some aspects of the business.
These projects will tie up nicely with Melina’s retirement plan.
