We are your local independent optician and look after patients from Heathfield, Horam, Hailsham, Battle, Burwash, Mayfield, Wadhurst, Crowborough, Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield, Lewes and all of the surrounding villages. Whatever your eyecare needs, we are here to help you.

Since Melina opened the door in 1992 the emphasis at the core of the practice has always been exceptional patient care and it remains so to this day. We have continued to invest heavily in the very best equipment and have three outstanding consulting rooms with the latest technology including OCT and Optomap digital scanning, corneal topography and colorimetry.

Whether you want to wear contact lenses full time or just for special occasions we can find a lens for you! At Melina Joy Opticians we offer all types of contact lenses from daily disposable to monthly disposable, soft or gas permeable.

Myopia Control

Adjusting the way corrective lenses (spectacles or contact lenses) focus light on the periphery of the eye has been shown to reduce the amount that myopia will increase. There are now several options available to treat myopia and try to reduce the amount that it increases.

Fees

We do not accept NHS funding for examinations or spectacles.  If you usually have an NHS funded eye examination, you can come to us as a private patient but you will need to be aware of the fees for services. We do offer an eyecare scheme, Eyeplan, which is a cost effective way to look after your eye health with a monthly subscription. We do continue to provide NHS referrals and cataract services.
